This meeting will be held in the city of Vitoria-Gasteiz and is organized by the Built Heritage Research Group from the University of Basque Country. The program includes four special sessions: “Materialities and memories: rethinking the Spanish Civil War”, “Archaeology of the Northern Front: hillforts in civil war”, “Forensic Anthropology and Archaeology: exhumation of victims”, “Fighting on all fronts”, “Community Archaeology” and “Community Archaeology and Civil War at the Basque Country”. The conference involves experts from University of Campinas (Brazil), California (USA), Cambridge (UK), University of the Republic (Uruguay), University of Basque Country, the Spanish High Council on Scientific Research and different Spanish Universities. Also troughout the conference will be held exhibitions, films, city tours and visits to scenes of the Spanish Civil War in the Basque Country.
